Do we have any citation on four men for a 32lber? Having fired a couple myself, I'd call it six. Even a well greased slide and good tackles doesn't make hauling 2000lbs of metal uphill particularly easy. I hold off changing in case there is authority behind the claim, however. (My gun crew weren't exactly beefy sailormen.)[[User:Czrisher|Czrisher]] 18:36, 22 June 2007 (BST) | Do we have any citation on four men for a 32lber? Having fired a couple myself, I'd call it six. + | We had reference here to 32-pounders, which suits my memory, but Reverse of the Medal gives her as having just six 24-pounders, q.v., [[HMS Surprise (ship)#Specifications in the Canon|Surprise article]], which seems insufficient (albeit making the claim of two-men per carronade a bit more believable). Surprise's Carronades
We had reference here to 32-pounders, which suits my memory, but Reverse of the Medal gives her as having just six 24-pounders, q.v., Surprise article, which seems insufficient (albeit making the claim of two-men per carronade a bit more believable).
