Meaning: | Possibly the Water Parsnip Skirret (Sium sisarum), an edible, multi-fingered root used as a diuretic and cleansing agent, good for dropsy, liver disorders and jaundice. Closely related is Upright Water Parsley (Sium angustifolium) which was used for stopping purging and haemorrhages. |
