British Isles

The British Isles are an archipelago in northwest Europe. The largest islands are Great Britain and Ireland, but there are over 100 other islands of various sizes associated with these two main ones. At the time of the Aubrey-Maturin series, these islands were almost all included in the state of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
