Lexicon:Zeta
From WikiPOBia
Citation: | zeta |
---|---|
Language: | Greek |
References: | The Thirteen-Gun Salute, page 273 |
Meaning: | the sixth letter of the Greek alphabet, which sounds and looks like English Z |
Notes:
Aubrey means he started to learn the alphabet, which at first proceeds in a way parallel to the English alphabet: alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon — but then zeta. Many a neophyte Greek scholar has stopped at this point, confused, though glad, that the Greek alphabet seems so very short.
