Despite what one finds at http://tinyurl.com/s2rkp, the round turn is emphatically not "really two turns". When tying "a round turn and two half-hitches", one brings the bitter end an extra 180 degrees around the object, but that is part of the tying of the half-hitches; the round turn itself, which can well be used alone, is purely 360 degrees.
