This edition of the Encyclopedia Britannica was published over the years from 1768 to 1771 as pamphlets; the entire publication being bound together in three books in 1771 by the Society of Gentlemen in Scotland in Edinburgh.

Following each notation in the WikiPOBia, will be a letter and number combination: (A-B pg 359) stating where in the manuscript the original notation can be found.

Content is presented in its original form as to spelling and grammar use, please do not correct these points as they are accurate for the text quoted. These entries are included to give a bit of flavour of the era the Aubrey and Maturin books are set, hopefully you will enjoy reading a taste from the times.
