Brigid Maturin

Brigid Maturin is the only child of Stephen Maturin and his wife Diana. She was born while Maturin was at sea. As a baby and young child, she is very unresponsive to other people, some readers consider this a form of autism. This behaviour causes her mother Diana, to abandon her to the care of Clarissa Oakes and Padeen Colman as she feels unable to be a mother to such an un usual child.
